Product Description
An urgently needed primer on how to protect kids from the increasing threat of online predators
Over 40 million Americans have seen DatelineÂ’s ongoing popular series To Catch a Predator, which has caught over two hundred potential child predators. While the show exposed this epidemic, Chris HansenÂ’s book, To Catch a Predator, shares the true stories of families who have been targeted by predators, revealing the tactics predators use to manipulate their victims and why even cautious families can be vulnerable to their attacks. He also offers suggestions from police officers, therapists, and child predators on the best approaches for preventing these crimes. Most critically, he provides parents with concrete steps they can take to protect their kids today, including how to initiate meaningful conversations with their children. To Catch a Predator teaches parents and children what they need to know before the next predator strikes.

I think every parent should read this book even though it will scare them as it did me. You cannot do anything about a threat if you do not know about it. I am so greatful for the "To Catch A Preditor" series on Dateline and Chris Hansens extra insights in the book.

Hansen has managed to bring this murky subject into the forefront of daily life and discussion with his show and this book.
And he did so with a team of experts who are well versed in this awful subject. His book is an easy read, hard to put down once you get going. You'll never look at the internet the same way again without wanting to closely monitor your childrens activities.
Hansen's show and his actions make him the leading expert on internet predators; his research clearly illustrates the psychology of these guys and the dangers of allow children unfettered access to chat rooms and social sites like Facebook and My Space.
This book is so popular that two of my local book stores were sold out as were all of their local branches.
My recommendation? Read it with a highlighter as I did and give a copy as a gift to your friends with children; you could save their lives.

Especially for anyone with children, a must read! A lot of us think we know how to protect our children but we must be honest with ourselves and admit we don't know everything!

Based on the popular "To Catch a Predator" series, Chris Hanson wrote this book. This is an informative book that all parents should read. About 30% of it is about the TV program and the rest is written like a guidebook. Chris Hanson includes other stories from families and experts, as well. I have watched "To Catch a Predator" from the beginning and really enjoy it. It's great to watch these weasels (my apologies to all weasels) get arrested and I know that this show is doing a lot of good. There is also a spin-off of sorts that started on MSNBC recently called "Predator Raw" which includes extra clips from passed shows. Like the series, the book is very well put-together and is incredibly educational. I cannot recommend it enough.
